Sharing a workshop are Spirit Of Colour Jewellery and silhouette artist John Speight
The Spirit Of Colour Jewellery range, created by Lorna Speight, is a collection of necklaces, bracelets and earrings made
using fine threads and a wide selection of semi-precious stones. Each piece comes with its own legend card
giving details of the traditional properties of each stone used.
John is one of Britain's few remaining silhouette artists. His wide range of contemporary designs are
individually hand-cut from black paper using a scalpel. With few exceptions they are cut in one piece.
The workshop has been arranged so that visitors can closely see the work being created.
John's latest design is of a point to point horse race. The picture size is 18cm x 12cm is
priced at £50 framed or £35 unframed and is cut in one piece as usual.
In the last couple of weeks John Speight has begun work on his biggest project to date: a Swiss style papercut
(generally known as scherenschnitte) of the internal goings on in Kirkharle's Stone Barn. The picture will
be cut in one piece and is likely to be approximately six feet in length when finished. Currently the papercut
is in the planning stage.
